From A Hobby To A Business
| Smelters Grist Mill started as a hobby when we found an antique (1949) Meadows Stone Mill in North Carolina. We bought it, brought it back here to Copperhill, refurbished it and started grinding meal for ourselves, our friends and neighbors. As people discovered the difference between our products and what they got at the store, there soon was so much demand for our meals and flour that we decided to open a store. For those of you who don't get to Copperhill often enough, we have this on-line store so you can still get your fair share. When you are in the area, visit our store. In addition to our fresh stone-ground meals and flours, you'll find a tasty selection of jellies, preserves, pickles, peppers and canned goods, some locally produced. Contact us to schedule an instructional group tour. You'll also want to visit our gift shop, where you'll find a variety of mountain crafts and other items for home decor. Store hours for the mill store and the gift shop are: Wednesday through Saturday 10:00 AM through 4:00 PM. |
